Vitamin A (Chocola A)

Supplementing essential vitamin A for epithelial differentiation and skin homeostasis restoration

1-3 months (保険適用・ビタミンA欠乏症)

About This Treatment

Chocola A contains retinol palmitate (vitamin A), insurance-covered in Japan. Vitamin A is essential for normal epithelial differentiation and maintenance. Used for keratinization disorders, mucosal protection, and immune function. In dermatology prescribed for dry skin, keratinization abnormalities, and night blindness. Oral route provides systemic effects unlike topical retinol.

Mechanism of Action

Retinol metabolized to retinal (vision) and retinoic acid (gene regulation). Retinoic acid binds RAR/RXR to regulate HOX genes maintaining normal keratinocyte differentiation. Vitamin A deficiency causes squamous metaplasia and impaired barrier. Supplementation restores keratinization, barrier function, and collagen metabolism. Note: physiologic supplementation, not pharmacologic retinoid effect like isotretinoin.

Indications

General indication (see detailed description)

Expected Results

Vitamin A deficiency symptoms (dry skin, keratinization) improve within 2-4 weeks. 26-week topical retinol study showed significant wrinkle improvement (oral supplementation evidence for direct cosmetic effects is more limited). Turnover normalization requires 1-2 months.
