Heparinoid (Hirudoid)
Comprehensive improvement of dry skin, scars, and pigmentation through superior hydration and circulation enhancement
About This Treatment
Heparinoid (mucopolysaccharide polysulfate) is one of the most widely prescribed insurance-covered moisturizers in Japan. With heparin-like structure, it provides superior hydration (hyaluronic acid-equivalent), circulation promotion, and anti-inflammatory effects. Available as cream/lotion/ointment/foam. Essential for post-laser care, post-peel hydration, and foundational moisturizing.
Mechanism of Action
Heparinoid: ①enhances stratum corneum hydration via hydrophilicity, reduces TEWL for barrier function, ②dilates dermal vessels improving microcirculation, ③modulates fibroblast collagen synthesis reducing keloid/scar fibrosis, ④anti-inflammatory as glycosaminoglycan. Unlike heparin, bleeding risk is extremely low.
Indications
Expected Results
Moisturizing effect immediate upon application. Measurable barrier improvement at 2-4 weeks continuous use. Clinical data shows 66.7% scar improvement rate (100% for bruises). Strong evidence as base moisturizer for atopic dermatitis.
Clinical Evidence
