About This Treatment
Botox (Botulinum toxin type A) inhibits acetylcholine release at the neuromuscular junction, reducing excessive muscle contraction. FDA-approved for forehead lines, glabellar lines, and crow's feet.

Mechanism of Action
Botulinum toxin A cleaves SNAP-25 protein of the SNARE complex, preventing acetylcholine vesicle fusion with cell membrane. Neuromuscular transmission is blocked. Effect onset 3-5 days, peak at 2-4 weeks, wanes at 3-4 months as nerve terminals regenerate.
